While performing a series of hip replacement surgeries in January, local doctor Andrew J. Petrella was shadowed by six doctors from Japan and a team of representatives from Utah-based Ortho Development.
An innovative prosthesis called the Ovation Hip Stem, developed in part by Dr. Petrella, was used during the surgeries. The doctors shadowed Dr. Petrella to observe his expert surgical technique.
