That certainly won't be the case next month when the Blue's Berry Brothers rock Brooksville at the inaugural Florida Blueberry Festival. Everywhere you look you will see the color blue but there will be little time for introspection with all the excitement and mind-blowing activities event organizers have put together.
Florida blueberry growers want all Floridians to know that this area has the potential to be one of the world’s most prolific producers of this nutritious and delicious berry. They have partnered with the City of Brooksville and want to share this wonderful news with their neighbors.
Be sure and read this month's feature story which explains how the Southern Highbush blueberry was created by the University of Florida just for Florida farmers. And now this great annual festival will be held each year just to celebrate it.
I would like to personally thank Michael Heard, president of the Florida Blueberry Festival, and all the other volunteers who have worked tirelessly to host this festival. This is a great event for Brooksville and even better for the State of Florida.
It’s the month of healthy eating and it all starts with delicious blueberries and a great local festival. So now when you hear someone say, "Get the Blues" you will know that it means get ready to celebrate! Hope to see you there!
